Thanks for Jammin' with us!

Thanks to you, we're happy to declare our first ever Jazz Plan Jam an unqualified success. From May 30 to June 13, you offered 442 ideas, 1.311 comments, and 10,050 votes across 8 different themes, sharing what matters most to you for the future of the Jazz products. Now its our turn to dig into the data and learn from it. We'll combine the Jam information with what we've learned from other interactions with our clients as we set both near term plans and long term directions.

Please expect to see an initial summary of the Plan Jam in the Jazz blog in the coming weeks. In the meantime, try out the V4 editions of Rational Team Concert, Rational Quality Manager, and Rational Requirements Composer, now available at Jazz.net.

Again, thank you!

Classification of Review comments or Work Items according to Orthogonal Defect Classification (ODC)

: What improvements would hit your sweet spot for Agile development?
: rtc, review, code, comments, analytics, work items
Vandana Shenoy110 - 05 2012 / (3)
1) We often work on features, and, when ready, we give it to a reviewer for review. The reviewer currently, just posts his/her review comments as a comment in the "Comment field" of RTC. Won't it be great if the reviewer could post his/her comments line by line, and classify ...

Provide more query features on 'change set' in RTC

: What product features should we add or improve? What functional gaps should we fill?
: rtc, query, change set, scm
Vincent Trebuchon3574 - 05 2012 / (4)
Currently queries in RTC only allow to filter if a change-set exists or not.
RTC should allow to filter on change-sets based on 'user', 'date', stream, modified files ...

Multi-level linked-attributes filtering in work items queries

: What product features should we add or improve? What functional gaps should we fill?
: rtc, work items, query
Vincent Trebuchon3574 - 05 2012 / (3)
RTC should allow to query work items by filtering on attributes of linked work items whatever the 'depth' of the linked work item (linked work item, linked work item of linked work item ...).

Currently we can only filter on attributes of directly linked work items ...

(New) jazz scm capabilities for all jazz 'resources'

Vincent Trebuchon3574 - 05 2012 / (3)
Any tool that uses the jazz technology (e.g. jts) to store its artifacts in the repository like :
- files,
- requirements,
- tests (test plans, test cases or whatever)
- UML elements
- any design elements
- work item (why not?)
...

should provide the jts with services ...

Allow estimates and "counts" in addition to points for RQM Tests

Sterling Ferguson II1090 - 05 2012 / (2)
RQM is now allowing for estimates in planning. I would like to add the capability for test counts in the viewlets and reporting.

Scenario:
How much work do you have left? What customer wants to hear:

X amount of tests left.
X amount of tests ...

RTC should support Eclipse RSE (Remote System Explorer)

: What product features should we add or improve? What functional gaps should we fill?
: rtc, scm, eclipse, rse
Vincent Trebuchon3574 - 05 2012 / (2)
As a Linux application developer, I want to be able to use the scm (load workspace) on my linux server using the Windows client, by using the Eclipse RSE (Remote System Explorer).
This will avoid to manage mounting Windows/Unix file system using smb (Samba).

Allow component dependancy build in RTC

Vincent Trebuchon3574 - 05 2012 / (2)
As a Build manager/integrator, I want to be able to define component dependancies in the build definition in order to rebuild all components when changes only affect some of the components

In RTC Eclipse Query editor, the + for adding a selection is a pain being on the right

: What product features should we add or improve? What functional gaps should we fill?
: rtc, eclipse, query
Nigel Hopper1257 - 05 2012 / (1)
Not the biggest problem in the world, but when creating a query in the Eclipse RTC client, after selecting create from scratch, having the next thing to select being on the opposite side of the screen is a bit of a pain. Not sure moving it to the left is ...

More fine grain administration tasks

Neil Plantan170 - 05 2012 / (1)
Administrator is overloaded in RTC. You have JazzAdmins, ProjectAdmins, administrators of the project and anyone who has a role that can modify the process specification. It would be nice to have more control over specific administrative duties. I would like to be able to allow some users admin enumeration and ...

In the RTC web interface have the save button at the bottom as well as the top

: What product features should we add or improve? What functional gaps should we fill?
: rtc, usability, web client
Nigel Hopper1257 - 05 2012 / (5)
In long work items that you have just added a comment to the bottom of, you can have a long scroll to the top to save it. Having the save buttom at the bottom and the top is much more convenient.
24

In RTC, when navigating items from a list, have previous / next at the bottom as well as the top

: What product features should we add or improve? What functional gaps should we fill?
: rtc, usability, web client
Nigel Hopper1257 - 05 2012 / (5)
In RTC when you have run a query in the browser and you select an item from the list, at the top it says n of n as well as providing links to the next and previous items.

If the work item is short that is OK, but if ...

Use Location instead of Timezone for user data

: What product features should we add or improve? What functional gaps should we fill?
: timezone location
Mike Shkolnik32 - 05 2012 / (3)
Currently when setting up a user I need to select their timezone from THE ENTIRE WORLD. This is tedious and what I really want to know is which office are they working out of, not what timezone are they in. It would be great to be able to create a ...

Provide heirarchical commenting in RTC that is seen in RRC

: What product features should we add or improve? What functional gaps should we fill?
: rtc, comments, work items
Nigel Hopper1257 - 05 2012 / (3)
In RRC you have the ability to reply to specific comments. In RTC it is just a long list of comments and in some work items it gets very complicated in trying to figure out who is replying to whom and about what! I know you can add @1 for ...

Anonymous Access for Defects View

Ketut Mahaindra301 - 04 2012 / (4)
Allow anonymous access, search and view of defects in RTC. A lot of times we have people in the organization that would like to see the status of a given defect. These people are not necessarily registered or have an account in RTC, they just need to see the defect ...

Ketut Mahaindra301 - 04 2012 / (1)

: How can we make our tools easier to use, learn, and adopt?
: clm, rrc, rtc, rqm, dashboard, automation, ease-of-use
Ketut Mahaindra301 - 04 2012 / (2)
When creating a new project or adding new user to the project, the system should attempt to generate a default dashboard with most frequently used widgets -or- most valuable widgets that is personalized / customized for the user role.

This will help the user to quickly take advantage of ...

Add "bisect" functionality to find the file version that introduced a bug (similar to the functionality found in GIT)

: What product features should we add or improve? What functional gaps should we fill?
: git, scm, version management, rtc
Glen Mercer40 - 04 2012 / (2)
GIT has functionality that allows developers to easily find what version of a file introduced a bug.
- Enter the last known good version number.
- Enter the first known bad version number.
- The commit that occurred closest to the middle of the two versions is checked out and ...

Two (2) click for accessing any feature/ functionality

: How can we make our tools easier to use, learn, and adopt?
: rrc, rtc, rqm, reports, usability
manivannan sabarajan1797 - 04 2012 / (2)
The UI can be improved such a way that user need to click only 2 times to reach any feature / functionality.

This is one issue with most of our customers saying that we need to follow a length tree path to reach the functionality in RTC/RQM/RRC

RQM Lab management -Reduce manual key in effort - Have a small tool to capture system information and software

manivannan sabarajan1797 - 04 2012 / (0)

Olivier B├ęghain104 - 04 2012 / (4)
As a part-time project member involved in several project making use of RTC, I would like to be able to define schedule constraint per project (taking into account cross-project constraints) so that I can control how much effort is allocated per project.
